We were happy as clams yesterday with our feet up on the couch, remote in one hand, glass of chardonnay in the other watching Hollywood’s A-listers in their Oscar finest. And what better place to find wedding day inspiration than the red carpet on one of fashion’s biggest nights? Here are seven of our absolute favorite looks, along with what we think would make a great wedding day alternative.

Ruffled Hem
If you liked Cameron Diaz’s strapless Gucci gown with its soft, ruffled asymmetrical skirt, take a look at this lovely La Fleur by Anne Barge.  The stunning pearl gown is made of Italian silk Magnolia with flowing lines and vertical bias ruffles of silk satin.
Off the Shoulder
Penelope Cruz wowed in this Giorgio Armani slate blue off the shoulder gown.  To copy her classic and elegant look, we found the Watters’ San Diego Gown with a similar off the shoulder neckline in silk taffeta with covered buttons, a fit and flare skirt, and sweep train.
Beadwork
We fell in love with the intricate beadwork of Jessica Chastain’s Alexander McQueen gown and thought her entire look was simply flawless. This strapless Sue Wong gown’s delicate beadwork and fitted silhouette would make for a perfect wedding day alternative – complete with soft, wavy hair and a pair of statement earrings!
Modern Perfection
Gwenyth Paltrow donned a draped Tom Ford gown with a dramatic cape and we adore everything about this look – from the understated makeup to the chic side part to the thick cuff. We chose this Nicole Miller  gown -it is simply beautiful with its asymmetrical neckline and sleek and modern look.
Assymetrical Sparkle
Didn’t you just love Milla Jovovich’s white sequin one shoulder Ellie Saab?  Check out this St. John’s satin assymetrical gown, that although it says its unavailable at the moment, will hopefully be in stock soon.
Intricate Sleeves
Giuliana Rancic’s intricate Tony Ward gown with feather-like accent stitching on the shoulders and sides turned heads on the red carpet.  We are in love with this Tadashi Taffeta gown adorned with a handful of beads and sequins with intricate detailing on the capped sleeves.
Jeweled Details
Maya Rudolph stunned  in her Johanna Johnson gown with jeweled details in her sash, sleeves, and back. This Stephen Yearick‘s gown (evening gown 9663) has gorgeous beadwork at the neckline and in the upper part of the bodice in the back that has that same subtly elegant sparkle.
